Defund the Police Backfired; Minneapolis Increased Police Funding; Baltimore Crime Rate Remains High

Minneapolis, where the death of George Floyd took place, is getting more police officers. Earlier this month the city council approved of a $6.4 million package for the police department. In an ironic twist, the city that launched the ‘defund the police’ movement across the country is returning to the principle of law and order. In the past 8 months, the city has learned a bitter lesson after conducting a failed experiment in police reform.

Is Minneapolis a miniature of the “Defund the Police” movement that has swept the country since last may? Who is really paying the price? And where will this movement go from now? In this episode of Zooming In, we will find out the answers to these questions.
